Marilyn, Roxie, and Me

Hello Everybody,

So what am I doing with a picture of Marilyn Monroe? It happens to be one that I will be using for my Marvelous Melons soap, but that is another story. I have read more than a few times that Marilyn was a size 14. Even if it is not true, and she was a size 12 or even a 10, I love that she was in the double digits. Some psycho designers now consider 14 a plus size. But I will settle for size 14. It is a respectable size. Marilyn looks pretty good to me in this picture. I think she is looking right at me. She is! She is saying, "Marie!! you can do it. I know you can. When you are a size 14, I'll let you borrow my dress." Well Marilyn, okay. I guess I could wear it on my birthday, which happens to be on Halloween. That could work. Thanks for cheering me on. This brings me to my next topic.

I am so happy that my friend Roxie is joining me on this trip. Unlike Marilyn, Roxie is a real living person. I know that together we can accomplish much more than doing it alone. Roxie and I will be sharing our thoughts, experiences, ups and downs, tips, and recipes with all of you. We would love to have you along for the ride. We will be blogging on Mondays. You can find Roxie at her blog. In addition, we are both members of Make Mine Pink. Look for our posts on the forum. Hope to see you. As always, your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Marie

LOL!!! What a great post. I love your sense of humor. But that is soooo true. I have also heard Marily was a size 14. I have also heard that actually a size 10 is a plus size model! YIKES. Sad but true. What is wrong with everyone. I personally dont find a 6ft tall 100 pound girl very pretty. Most men dont either. Marilyn knew that! :)
Great post, and i hope this is a great Revolution and I hope to be one of the winners. (()) gail

So true Gail, men like curves! LOL
I know that's not what we're trying to do here, but knowing the industry thinks size 10 is PLUS SIZE, aren't trying to help these models feel "pretty" in their own skin. AND, they don't know SEXY!!! Rawwwrrrr!!

I am so proud and excited you have kept this eating healthy life style going. You have done so well and I am happy that Roxie is on board with you. When 2 or more people do something together watch out. I also have started this morning on my plan as well. My sisters have both joined weight watchers a month ago and are letting my mom and I look at their books which it is all coming back fast. So I would love to be on this wonderful journey with the two of you. Kath'

Marie, You are so funny! There is no doubt in my mind that you will be in Marilyn's dress! One thing that I always think of, is, why am I never happy with being a size 14? 16? whatever size and now my kazilion size? I would kill to be a 14. Will I and can I be happy when I get there? What size is happiness?

Hi Marie! I am following you and Roxie on this journey and I just love your cute posts. I'm with you girl ... 14 IS a respectable size and I will be very happy to get back to it. I've recently moved into a size 16 again, but one bad week could push me back up, so I'm really glad to have you ladies keeping us on our toes. Something you said hit home with me about portion control. I always think of it as applying to regular meals, the ones served on plates, but I never think of it for snacks - that's gotta change! Thanks for the boost, I think we will have a great week. Enjoy your vacation on the cape! XOXO Dianne
